Lithuanian gold - amber has no carats, but is extremely valuable and unique. Lithuanians call amber their gold, which is the only one of the 250 types of amber found in the world that contains up to 8%. of succinic acid, and the Baltic Sea is the only sea that throws amber ashore.

Amber has been known since time immemorial. The various peoples who knew amber surrounded its origin with legends and myths. For a long time, it was believed that the first amber was described by Homer in the "Odyssey" (7th century BC) as a flammable hardened tree resin. However, an even earlier reference to amber has been discovered on an Assyrian obelisk in the British Museum. The cuneiform script belongs to the 10th century BC. The Lithuanian name "gintaras" comes from the word to protect, to protect against diseases and the evil eye. Since ancient times, protective amulets have been made from amber, protecting against diseases and misfortunes.

The Roman scientist Pliny the Elder was the first to notice the healing properties of amber. He suggested wearing amber necklaces for sore throats. The Romans believed that amber protects against various diseases and even insanity. Amber is still believed to help calm the mind and remove negative energy.

In the Middle Ages, it was believed that amber cures jaundice - it is said that the yellow of the substance removes the yellowness of the disease from the body, and the smoke of amber repels the plague.

In Eastern countries, amber smoke was believed to inspire courage and strengthen the spirit. Both in tsarist Russia and in Lithuania, nannies wore amber necklaces. It was believed that they would protect themselves and their children from diseases.

Succinic acid has immune-boosting and anti-inflammatory properties. Nowadays, cosmetics with succinic acid are also produced, and spa procedures are performed with amber dust, oil or incense. Amber powder is suitable for treating insect bites, purulent wounds, promotes hair growth, and when added to toothpaste stops bleeding gums.
